Degrees:
B.A. in English Literature - UC Santa Barbara
M.S. in Education - Johns Hopkins University

Certifications: EC-6 Core Subjects, SPED EC-12, Bilingual Education: Spanish, ESL

In my five years of teaching students in Dallas ISD classrooms from grades 2 through 7, I have developed my professional capacity to recognize my students for who they are and leverage these authentic relationships into sustained personal and academic growth. My favorite moments in the classroom have begun when students seek out my advice for a question weighing on their minds. I pride myself on guiding them to reach the heart of what they are searching for: Knowledge, Skills, and Connection. No matter their question, I hope to lead them toward reaching valuable insight into what they’re looking for in the world and how they might attain it. Outside my classroom, you might find me charmed on a hike through the Texas wilderness or around a sizzling grill.

Mr. Brian Davis

Degrees: B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies - UNT

Certifications: Social Studies 4-8, Generalist 4-8, ESL

In my nine years of teaching social studies, I have taken pride in maintaining a progressive teaching philosophy. I always try to put the needs of my students first; it is important for me to build authentic relationships while working hard to provide my students with the best instructional resources I can find. My career has been split between Irving and Dallas ISD, and in 2022, I was voted Teacher of the Year at Sam Houston Middle School. I am very proud of my accomplishments as an educator, husband, and father of two young children. When I am not working, you will likely find me trying to find time to work in my yard or inside with a guitar in my hands.

Ms. Maricela Salto

Degrees: B.A. from UNT Dallas

Certifications: LOTE, Spanish EC-12

Growing up with it as my first language, Spanish comes very easy to me. However, I realize that learning a new language can be a struggle, especially if it’s done later in life. That is why I aim to create a safe learning environment where students are not afraid to try and participate. It is also my intention to help the students learn to love everything that comes with Spanish (culture, history, etc.), just as I do.
